Sweeper is a system that
enables you to define and schedule automated file copy operations
for unattended execution. Much more sophisticated, powerful, and
easy to use than cumbersome batch processes, this product is
particularly useful for businesses that receive and process incoming
data files on a regular basis.
Sweeper is designed for any
32-bit version of the Windows® operating system.
The basic architecture of
the Sweeper product is illustrated in the diagram to the left.
The Queue Manager (QM) is the focal point of the Sweeper
application. The QM is designed to run continuously on a workstation
within your network. It continually monitors jobs that you have
defined to determine when they should be launched. At the
appropriate time, the QM will pass the job to the Launch Agent for
execution.
The Launch Agent
executes your instructions, and writes a logfile that contains
all details of job execution.
The Job Log Viewer
enables you to quickly determine the status of an active job. Once a
job is completed, you can quickly determine the final status of the
job, and conveniently view the logfile with just a mouse
click.
Jobs in Sweeper are defined
and maintained using the Job Profile Manager. Every job has
an associated profile that you define. The profile contains
the detailed instructions that will be carried-out once the job is
queued and ultimately executed.
Each job profile is related
to a high-level Owner. The Owner Manager program enables you
to create and manage owner records. The Owner record provides
information that is common to a group of job profiles. This process
saves manual typing as you create job profiles, making profile
creation easier and faster.
Sweeper programs offer copy
and paste functionality for further simplify data entry and the
process of creating job profiles.
